Koha ILS and Greenstone Digital Library (GSDL) workshop coordinated and facilitated by Maldives Greenstone support Network in association with HealthNet Nepal commenced on November 28, 2010. The 3 day Koha workshop was conducted by Dr. Mohan Pradhan, assisted by Mr. Shiva Shrestha from HealthNet Nepal. The GSDL workshop commenced on 1 Dec; the 5th and last day of the workshop is Dec 6, 2010. The GSDL workshop is being conducted by Mr. Shiva Shrestha from HealthNet Nepal assisted by Fathmath Nashfa from MCHE Library.
The objective of the workshop is to empower library and information service workers in the Maldives in the use of “Koha”open source software for library management and in the use of Greenstone Digital Library software, also with the integration of both software in presenting a meaningful access to information sources for the small island state of Maldives.
Staff from MCHE Library participated in the workshop, along with participants from the National Library and other library and information related organisations in the Maldives. The program is funded through a grant provided to the Maldives Greenstone support Network (MGN) from the University of Waikato.
MGN is made up of the National Library of Maldives, MCHE Library, National Centre for Information Technology & the Maldives Library Association.
